We strongly believe that a business is only as good as its staff, and ours is an excellent group of industry professionals. We're proud to say that our customer service achievements, response times and maintenance record have all been setting a new industry standard, and it's all thanks to the people pictured below. Next time you come into one of our two locations, you'll know exactly who you're dealing with.
Justin Wharton – President & CEO
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic by trade, Justin has always had a passion for business. At a young age he became the Service Manager for an equipment rental company. In 2009 he acquired a business, Truck Effects Ltd., which he ran as President and CEO until its sale in 2012. In 2012 he co-founded Alberta Lift and Equipment Rentals and currently acts as the Company’s President and CEO. He also serves as President of J.M. Wharton Enterprises, a small Real Estate holding company, since 2009. Justin’s dedication to leadership and teamwork has aided the success of Albert Lift. It is his belief that a company can only be as good as the team it employs, and it is the employees who make Alberta Lift great.
Megan White – Manager of Training
I started in the rental industry with another company in 2007. I started as an Inside Sales Rep in Calgary. I quickly gravitated into a Safety Role which included managing the safety program of 2 branches as well as training on Forklifts, AWP’s & Skid Steers. While I was there I trained over 500 operators. I was also instrumental in the Alberta regions COR certification which included audits of 8 branches. After 3 years, I needed some change, so I took a position as an Senior Outside Sales Rep at our Fort McMurray location, located on the Canadian Natural Resources Oil Plant. While I was there I helped grow the fleet from 8M to 43M. I had direct roles in all areas of the business. I handled truck and service dispatch, safety, HR, sales and contract management. After 4 years of remote work I wanted to be back in Calgary and the amazing opportunity to start with Alberta Lift came to me. I was hired as Field Sales Equipment Specialist and stayed in that role for a year before shifting my focus to a Sales/Training Role. I was thrilled to be a part of developing our second location in Lethbridge as an Outside Sales Rep and now I am leading and growing the Training Department and to date my experience includes training almost 1000 operators on safe use and operation of powered mobile equipment and fall protection. I look forward to continuing to work with an amazing team at an exceptionally ran company and can’t wait to see what new opportunities will come for me!
Beka Newman – Manager of Parts
I started in this industry in May 2014 as a service writer. Completely new to the high reach rental industry. I learned a lot in the year that I was in the position, work orders, purchase orders, customer interaction and communication, billing, ordering receiving and sourcing parts. Through my year I gained more of an interest in the parts and was approached to become the parts manager. September 2015 I was promoted to parts manager. I built the department from the ground up which was a challenge as I was new to the managerial role. So far I have been able to save the department money, increase revenue and add new avenues to bringing in more customers and revenue. It was never something I could see myself doing but have enjoyed every minute of being at this company and the new role I took on.
Travis Wray – Manager of service
Travis Wray is the Service Manager at Alberta Lift and Equipment Rentals Inc. Prior to working at Alberta Lift, Travis Wray worked as a Field Service Technician for a year and then was quickly promoted to Service/Parts Manager with another high reach rental company. This position came with great challenges. From leading a department with 15 staff members, developing process’s for the department to properly maintain and service $25 million in rental equipment, as well as lead a parts department handling $400,000 in inventory. Prior to taking on these managerial roles, Travis had 10 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician on the shop floor and running a service truck on his own out in the field. Having that past experience has given Travis the tools to evaluate any problem that may arise from all angles and come up with an appropriate solution. Travis Wray is a licenced Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician by trade. Over the last four years he has trained and become a Certified 1001 Level 1 & 2 Fire Fighter with the town of Okotoks and has recently become an Emergency Medical Responder as well. Travis takes great pride in his work and the service he provides to his customers each and every day.
Kevin Ireland – Manager of Sales
After 10 years in the sales area in another rental industry, I began my career at Alberta Lift in March of 2013. My time at Alberta Lift has been filled with various roles focusing on sales. I have been involved in everything from contracts to transportation. Over the past couple of years I have moved into my passion for a career which is sales. It has been a fulfilling experience helping our sales team grow and them helping me grow from a sales coordinator to a Sales Manager into a selling Sales Manager where I am today. The opportunities provided to me within Alberta Lift have been tremendous and I look forward to our team growing and surpassing our goals in the future.
Ray Fehr – Manager of Transports
I have been actively involved in the Transportation Industry for over 11 years. I have spent time in the driving seat and have held the title of Operations Manager. I have been with Alberta Lift & Equipment Rentals since July of 2014. At that time I felt this was a company I wanted to be involved with. I accepted the position of driver to start and transitioned into my current position three months later. At Alberta Lift, we are always striving to do things better. This is an ideal that is lost on a lot of companies in my opinion. We have a great staff here and I look forward to many years of service at Alberta Lift to come! Here in the Transport Department at Alberta Lift & Equipment Rentals, we take customer service seriously. We employ three of the best professional drivers in our industry. Jessie Minvielle- Systems Manager
Jessie has 12 yrs experience in the rental industry, 9 yrs of which have been in the high reach sector. Jessie has experience in a number of business start-ups and expansions and came on board with Alberta Lift in 2012. As our Systems Manager she ensures systems are running smoothly for our everyday business and is continually pushing the system to help us become more efficient. She’s always there to assist team members with any challenges that come their way.
Lou Antal-Field Technician/Lethbridge AB
Lou Antal is the Service Manager at our new Lethbridge location. Prior to this Lou has worked as a Field Service Technician for the last 13 years as well as an acting Service/Parts Manager for 4 of them with another rental company. Lou has built up a strong customer following by providing a high standard of customer service. By working all across Southern Alberta and B.C. he has the experience of working with and in the Construction, Mining, Petroleum, Agriculture, and Processing industries to get the job done in a safe and efficient manner. Lou is a licensed Red Seal Mechanic as well as a Partsman by trade and has been to many factory authorized training courses on rental equipment repair. Lou is always willing to give advice on the maintenance and proper operation of the equipment we use. “Seeing the opportunity to work for a company with the same beliefs of strong customer service and to work with a great bunch of coworkers was what hooked me and what I look forward to being a part of for many years to come!”
Catherine Williston –Contract /Billing
Catherine has 30 yrs experience in accounting. She has come on board with Alberta Lift in August 2015. As our Contract/Billing Personnel she ensures that your documents and units are delivered on schedule. Catherine will make your rental experience a good one.
Sue Markowski – Service Writer
Sue has 31 yrs experience in Administration and has 3 yrs experience in the Power Generation industry as a Sales Coordinator. She ensured that jobs got done on course from when a unit arrived to when it was ready to be shipped. Sue came on board with Alberta Lift in September 2015 with the Service Department as our Service Writer. Sue ensures that all Service needs and requirements are met for great customer service.
