Alberta Lift Offers Excellent Safety Training Courses

The safer your workplace, the smoother your jobs will run. At Alberta Lift, we have experienced instructors and we offer a variety of operator training courses including fall protection training, aerial work platform training, and forklift training. These courses will help ensure that you and your team are safe on the job site.

A smart workplace is one that is constantly improving its safety record and the first step towards a more secure workplace is having properly trained employees. Lost time accidents are not only bad for those involved, but for the overall efficiency of your jobsite. OH&S inspections can come at any time, so it's  important that you and your team are properly trained in all aspects working with lift equipment and fall arrest systems.

Stay safe on the job. Know your hazards and get certified before using any equipment or system that you're not 100% familiar with.

Here's a complete rundown of the courses we offer:

Fall Protection Essentials - $165

The fall protection portion of this course will give you a solid understanding of how to use fall protection as it relates to what you do at certain heights at the job site. The course material includes hands-on practice and requires significant student participation.

This course is suitable for individuals whose work environment is only within the setting of a static system. The anchor point is pre-engineered, established and your equipment choice is static.

Aerial Work Platform Course - $200

The Aerial Work Platform course offers students the essentials of working at height and safely operating high reach, powered mobile equipment.

The Aerial Work Platform Course will teach students to apply the techniques of safe, professional operation of equipment and will allow students to understand the care, use, maintenance and limitations of a selection of AWPs including scissor lifts and self-propelled boom lifts.

Students will learn safety procedures, preventative maintenance, proper inspection procedures and operating techniques while using lifts. Graduating students will be able to demonstrate competency on a variety of AWP’s.

Course Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm (45 min lunch break)

Course Certificates: 3 year Factory Approved AWP Certificate

Fall Protection Essentials & Aerial Work Platform Combo Course - $315

We've combined the above two courses to maximize your safety on the job. Our combo course gives students confidence in applying proper safety procedures for both Fall Protection and for work on Aerial Work Platforms. These two certifications go hand-in hand as workers should always be competent in both fall protection and aerial work platforms when working at heights above 15 feet. All workers must be wearing fall protection when working on aerial work platforms and that is why this combo course is so popular.

Fall Protection Comprehensive - $190

For a more in-depth training course, our Fall Protective Comprehensive class teaches students more than just the essentials of working at height. 

This is a full day course that will help students to identify which fall protection methods are best for different jobs so that they can work more safely. Students will learn how to effectively create a fall protection plan, develop temporary fall protection systems and anchor points and learn how to choose which of the many fall protection systems suits their job scope best.

Fall Protection Oil Sands (OSSA) - $220

The Fall Protection Oil Sands course is accredited by the OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association) and offers full, comprehensive training of Fall Protection for anyone working at height.

Workers who are asked to work at height and utilize fall protection equipment must be fully trained and competent in its care, maintenance and proper use. Fall Protection Oil Sands (OSSA) complies with all relevant provisions of the Alberta OH&S Act. This course should only be considered if you will be working on an OSSA regulated Site – If not, please refer to the Comprehensive Program.

Certificates: 3 year OSSA approved End User Certification w/ entry into the OSSA/Fall Protection Group Tracking System for safety training. 

Variable Reach Forklift - $200

This course includes hands-on practical evaluation, theory and course work. Students will learn how to move and handle material safely and efficiently in many environments using variable reach forklifts.

The program will enhance the operator’s abilities to operate equipment proficiently and safely and broaden the operator’s understanding of their role as defined by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety.

Training includes recognizing hazards with the equipment and in the environment in which they are operated. 

Forklifts/Lift trucks are integral pieces of equipment used to move and handle material safely and efficiently in many environments. Their widespread use requires that individuals working with and around lift trucks recognize hazards associated with the equipment and the environment in which they are operated.

This course discusses the hazards associated with operating lift trucks (sometimes called forklift or fork lift trucks). Hazards reviewed include equipment, material, environmental and process hazards.

Modules include Hazard Identification, Competency and General Responsibilities, Lift Truck & Forklift Design and Classifications, Stability Principles for Forklifts & Lift Trucks, Pre-Operational Checks, Safe Operating Procedures, Fuel Sources and Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Reach Trucks.

Course Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm (45 min lunch break)

Certificate: 3 year Factory Approved

Counter-Balanced Forklift Course - $200

This course also includes hands-on practical evaluation, theory and course work. Students will learn how to move and handle material safely and efficiently in many environments using counter-balanced forklifts.

The program will enhance the operator’s abilities to operate equipment proficiently and safely and broaden operator’s understandings of their roles as defined by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety.

Training includes recognizing hazards with the equipment and in the environment in which they are operated. 

This course discusses the hazards associated with operating counter-balanced forklifts. Hazards reviewed include equipment, material, environmental and process hazards.

Modules include Hazard Identification, Competency and General Responsibilities, Lift Truck & Forklift Design and Classifications, Stability Principles for Forklifts & Lift Trucks, Pre-Operational Checks, Safe Operating Procedures, Fuel Sources and Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Reach Trucks.

Course Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm (45 min lunch break)

Certificate: 3 year Factory Approved (Class 4, 5 & 7 Lift Trucks)
